South West Scotland

The huge area of South West Scotland is the motorcyclists little secret.

Often neglected in a bid to get to the North, Ayrshire and Dumfries & Galloway, along with the Scottish Borders, is the first port of call in Scotland.  Wide open and remote spaces.  Hundreds of miles of quiet roads.  Stunning scenery and awesome roads!  Repeat – awesome roads and stunning scenery.

Route 1 - A Taste Of Galloway
This route gives you a taste of two halves, from Moffat to Portpatrick and back. You have a half that takes you along good back roads, through passes and forests to Portpatrick. Whilst the other half is a more direct route on a good A Road (A75). Portpatrick is on everybody’s list of beautiful coastal villages.

Approximate distance: 214 miles (344 km)
Approximate duration: 5 Hours 39 Minutes
Route 2 - Allo Allo
You will find photo opportunities right from the start and everywhere along the way. You will find Glens, Cleuchs and Valleys. You will see people panning for real gold on warm days. You will find many miles of rolling hills and meandering rivers. You will not find much traffic but you will find open spaces and be able to taste the feeling of being one with your motorcycle. This is a cracking route which is a comfortable full day’s ride with still time to take photos, lunch and tea without being pressured.

Approximate distance: 169 miles (272 km)
Approximate duration: 4 Hours 23 Minutes
Route 3 - Burns Country Run
Re-live the steps of Robert Burns in this route which takes you between Ayrshire and Dumfriesshire. On the way the route will vary in road type so go at your own pace.

Approximate distance: 162 miles (261 km)
Approximate duration: 4 Hours 36 Minutes
Route 4 - Galloway Quickie
This is a great route if you do not have a lot of time to spend in the area. The Galloway Quickie will give you a taster of what this region has to offer and will have you back exploring the rest of the countryside in the area.

Approximate distance: 121 miles (194 km)
Approximate duration: 3 Hours 18 Minutes
Route 5 - Scottish Castles Route
The Scottish Castles route is the full monty – exploring the full extent of the Galloway region. See the rolling hills and stunning scenery with a little history thrown in if it takes your fancy.

Approximate distance: 252 miles (405 km)
Approximate duration: 6 hour 50 minutes
Route 6 - Southwest Coastal Route
Starting off with a fantastic pass you will head West to the sea and will literally hug the coastline through the whole Dumfriesshire region. Photo opportunities abound! Surprisingly this route is relatively unknown (long may it last) so enjoy the beauty along with the relative quiet.

Approximate distance: 307 miles (494 km)
Approximate duration: 9 Hours 3 Minutes
Route 7 - The Bruce Run
This route takes you through Robert The Bruce territory and into the centre of the Galloway Forest to Glentrool. An area that Robert The Bruce camped at in 1307. From Bruce's stane (stone) you get a magnificent 360 Degree view of the area.

Approximate distance: 165 miles (266 km)
Approximate duration: 4 Hours 32 Minutes
Route 8 - Tuned into Scotland
This route starts from the parking at the Gretna Outlet Village and takes you on a full good days ride as an introduction to the beauty of riding in Scotland. We have taken you on a journey of quiet (traffic - that is) roads with some truly scenic highlights!

Approximate distance: 222 miles (357 km)
